LOCATION / MAP: The District Education Center (DEC) rinks and warming house are located at:
60 Briarwood Ave. in Mahtomedi, MN 55115.
They are behind (Northwest) the Mahtomedi District Education Center building that is located at 1520 Mahtomedi Ave.

MYHA Practice Schedule 2023-2024 Season Outdoor Rinks
MYHA practices are held Monday through Friday only, no weekends.
Outdoor Practice Schedule
- 4:45PM-8:15PM - Upper Rink
- 5:00PM-8:30PM - Middle Rink
- Open Ice - Lower Rink/Open to the public.
MYHA 2023-2024 DEC Information
Reminder to all MYHA Players/Coaches:
Helmets are required at the DEC or you will be asked to leave the premises.
MYHA practices at the DEC will begin in January 2023, and will appear as part of your teams regular practice schedule. Outdoor practices will be added once January and February indoor ice times have been posted.

Winter Break (Weekday Schedule) – Hours of Operation

- January 1-2, 2023: Noon – 9:00PM
Holiday/Non-School Days Schedule – Hours of Operation
- January 16, 2023: Noon to 9:00PM – Martin Luther King Jr. Day (No School)
- January 23, 2023: Noon-9:00PM - Staff Professional Day (No School)
- February 17, 2023: Noon- 9:00PM - Staff Professional Day (No School)
- February 20, 2023: Noon-9:00PM – President’s Day
Weather Permitting/Extended Season

- Middle Rink: 5:00PM – 8:30PM
- Upper Rink: 4:45PM – 8:15PM
- Lower Rink: Open to the public on all Fridays.
Outdoor Rinks and Warming House Events
The follow rinks and the warming house will be CLOSED for public skating due to the following events:
- January 21, 2023, closed, 9:00AM-1:00PM – Pucks for Pancakes (U6/U8 – In-House)
- Upper, Middle and Lower Rinks and the Warming House - Closed
- January 22, 2023, closed, Noon-3:00PM - Community Education - Annual Winter Skating Party (Back-up date, January 29, 2023, Noon-3:00PM)
- Upper, Middle and Lower Rinks and the Warming House – Closed
- February 27, 2023, closed, 6:00PM-8:00PM - Boy Scouts Broomball Tournament
- Lower Rink and the Warming House - Closed
Outdoor Rink Weather Policy:
The District Education Center Rinks policy for the upcoming season is:
MYHA will make a decision if the weather is too severe to cancel all outdoor practices which are scheduled that day/evening. The DEC Rinks will remain open to use at your players own risk. If the weather is so severe, the warming house staff decides to close the rinks and warming house, it will be posted on this page. Also, if the Briarwood gate is closed, the rinks are closed. Please check daily for updates.
Note: Rink and warming house opening depends on weather conditions. The rinks/warming house are closed if temperatures reach -10 degrees real or wind chill, if snow accumulation is greater than two inches, or if a thaw causes significant standing water. Rinks close February 20, 2023, unless weather permits them to remain open longer.
Information from Community Education:
The entrance to the rinks is found by driving north on Mahtomedi Avenue, turn right on Quail Street, travel two blocks then turn right (east on Briarwood Avenue). The rink entrance is on the right.
Operation of the outdoor DEC rinks/warming house is a cooperative effort of the City of Mahtomedi, Mahtomedi Hockey Association and Mahtomedi Community Education.

Recent Rink Upgrades
The Mahtomedi Youth Hockey Association and City of Mahtomedi are very proud of our 3 outdoor rinks.
Over the last few years, MYHA, with the help of our members, has made significant upgrades to the DEC Rinks:
- The warming house size was doubled
- All three rinks have had concrete poured to make it easier to build and maintain the ice.
- MYHA purchased a Zamboni in 2012 that makes great ice for our players and the citizens of Mahtomedi.
